Funding

Since the foundation of the Indigenous Studies in Kinesiology program, our research programming has received more than $3.5 million for research dedicated to Indigenous peoples. This includes funding from all three tri-council granting agencies (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR), the University of British Columbia (e.g., Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund), MITACs, and agencies dedicated to Indigenous health, education, and wellness (e.g., NIB Trust Fund). These independent research grants are designed to provide support for several key aspects of our work including: Indigenous community leader and member support, research and education personnel (e.g., trainee and staff support), infrastructure, operating costs, and community-based initiatives. We are also extremely proud of our work supporting First Nations communities in applications to diverse funding sources for Indigenous-led community-based initiatives.
