Musqueam Indian Band Land Acknowledgements

We would like to acknowledge Elder Gail Sparrow, Elder and past-Musqueam Chief who is the Advisor for Indigenous Studies in Kinesiology. We are honoured to be learning and sharing knowledge on the territory of the Musqueam people. We have the spirit and heart of the community in all our work.

Our Work and Our Relations

The Indigenous Studies in Kinesiology Program is designed to introduce students, faculty, and staff to Indigenous understandings of health and well-being providing comprehensive insight into the complex social, cultural, historical, and economic factors that shape healthy living within Indigenous communities. In partnership with Indigenous communities and non-profit organizations, we are committed to co-creating strengths-based approaches in Indigenous health and wellness research, and finding culturally safe ways to translate, harmonize, and share Indigenous health and wellness knowledge.
